Essential Question: What is the desired/expected outcome for the students after completing this WebQuest? What is a reusing/reducing/recycling program or method you can create to benefit your school?
Description of the ‘relative advantage’ of any and all technology being used in this lesson: In this WebQuest, I have arranged for the students to visit a number of websites to learn about their reducing, reusing, and recycling. This in itself is more exciting to students than bookwork. Of the websites I used, I used two interactive sites, a Recycling Calculator and Recycle City in which the students investigate to sites to learn more about recycling, reusing, or reducing than traditional lecture or bookwork. I am also having the students create a letter using Microsoft Word, which will benefit them for letters they will be writing in the future, and I am having them create a diagram in PowerPoint or another design program. I think the technology behind this WebQuest is more helpful than time consuming in my case because I have the necessary steps ready for my students to complete. The lesson is set up on the computers for the students to complete at their own pace. If I found an easier way to make a diagram I would be happy to learn about it.
