Non-linear PPTs

Non-Linear PowerPoints can be very useful in the classroom because they mix up the normal review process and engage students at the same time.  I created an interactive quiz for third grade students.  It is a Social Studies quiz that focuses on the highlights of Ancient Egypt.  I think interactive quizzes are especially beneficial for students as an assessment and review tool because students automatically know if they have chosen the correct answer.  If not, they are given the chance to try again until they choose the correct answer.

How much do you know about Ancient Egypt? Take the quiz to find out.

Essential Question: What was life like in Ancient Egypt?

Description of the ‘relative advantage’ of any and all technology being used in this instructional activity: I chose to use technology in the form of an interactive quiz.  I thought this was more helpful that time consuming because it allows the students to quiz themselves on their own time and immediately see the problems they have missed.  This definitely saves the teacher time versus giving a quiz and grading them all.  Plus, I would think the students would enjoy using the computer and the interactive element of the quiz.  Taking the technology out of the activity would make it completely boring to the students.
